Meet Nine Becker, your personal trainer
My
name is Nine Becker and I am a runner and run instructor. I launched the Chicks
Only Running Club: running classes for ladies only. I train the ladies myself.
Every Thursday night we run
in pink shirts through the local park. I also give running clinics to
beginners. I enjoy the blushed and satisfied faces after a training. For
Flying Blue Running I will be
answering all your questions about running and share my tips and tricks.
My first steps
I was born in The Netherlands, in 1980. When I was younger I played tennis and volleyball. In my early twenties I started to work out at the gym. But not too often. My craving for ice cream, cookies and dark chocolate was bigger than my craving for burning calories. After finishing my bachelor in Communications in 2004, I decided I needed to get fit for my new life as a hard working adult. I downloaded a running schedule for beginners from the internet, put on an old sweater and started to run. The first few times I felt like a big and heavy couch potato. I didn’t think I would ever run 10K. Let alone a marathon. But I did. In 2010 I ran my first 42,195K in Rotterdam. I experienced that the body and mind are capable of so much more than we can imagine.
Why I Run
Through running I found strength. I have more energy and endurance for all things. Physically as well as mentally. Running gives me creativity for my other work, as a journalist and writer. While I run or when I come home after a run, I come up with new ideas for a project or new lines for an article. Running offers stress relief and a connection with nature. I run on the beach, through dunes and forests. Or across the city when I feel like it. I run because it simply feels good. For me that’s what running is all about. It feels good while you’re doing it and it leaves you with new energy when you’re done. I love to feel sun, sweat, rain, wind against my skin while I am running. It makes me feel alive and independent. And that I can accomplish things I once thought impossible.
